Tamil Nadu: TN Health has invited applications for admission to Pharm D degree course 2023-24 session. The last date to apply is July 26th.
ELIGIBILITY:-
2. The candidate should be a citizen of India.
NATIVITY:-
a) Candidates should be Native of Tamil Nadu
b) The candidates, who claim their Nativity as Tamil Nadu should submit their nativity certificate issued by the competent Revenue authority of Government of Tamil Nadu.
c) Candidates belonging to other States cannot claim nativity of Tamil Nadu
d) Permanent Residence Certificate in lieu of Nativity Certificate will not be accepted.
e) Nativity Certificate submitted with application alone will be accepted and sending the Nativity Certificate separately will not be entertained.
f) Candidates who are Native of Tamil Nadu and who have studied 6TH standard to
12TH standard in schools of Tamil Nadu should also produce Nativity Certificate
and Community Certificate issued by the competent competent Revenue
Authority in Tamil Nadu. The Community Certificate of either one of the parent
obtained from the competent Revenue Authority in Tamil Nadu should be
enclosed to claim Communal Reservation.
If candidates do not submit the above mentioned certificates and even if he/she
had studied Standard 6th to 12thstd completely in Tamil Nadu, the candidate will
be considered under Open Category only.
g) Candidates who are Native of Tamil Nadu, but studied from 6th Standard to 12th standard either partly or completely in one or more states should upload their Nativity Certificate issued by the competent revenue authority of Tamil Nadu. If the candidate claims communal reservation, they should upload candidate’s community certificate issued by the competent revenue authority of Tamil Nadu and should upload the community certificate of either one of the parent or guardian obtained from the competent Revenue Authority of Tamil Nadu for claiming Communal Reservation. If the candidates do not submit the above mentioned certificate, then the candidate’s application will be summarily rejected.
h) Other State candidates who are not native of Tamil Nadu but Studied 6th standard to 12th standard in Tamil Nadu will be considered under Open Category (OC) and they have to produce their Bonafide Certificate from school in which he/she studied from std 6th to 12thstd
i) Community Certificate of the candidates or either one of his/her parents obtained from other states will not be considered for communal reservation.
AGE LIMIT :–
Candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December 2023.
DURATION OF THE COURSE:-
a) Pharm D: The duration of the course shall be six academic years ( 5 years of study and one year of intership or residency)
b) Pharm D. (Post Baccalaureate):- This is a postgraduate entry course to the 4thYear of the Pharm D. Course and the student should undergo the Pharm D. Post Baccalaureate programme for three academic years (fourth, fifth and Sixth Years of the Pharm D. Programme) (Two Years of academic study and one year of intership or residency)
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: -
Candidates should have passed in all the subjects of the qualifying Examination of the Higher Secondary Course conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board or any other Equivalent Board in the following group of subjects with minimum eligible marks.
a) A pass in 10, +2 examination with physics and chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects:
Mathematics or Biology.
Note : Candidates who have completed D.Pharm Courses can apply for Pharm.D, however their admission will be considered based on their marks in the H.Sc exam and the duration for them in Pharm.D course will be six years.
Pharm D. (POST BACCALAUREATE) COURSE:-(GRADUATE ENTRY LEVEL)
A pass in B.Pharm from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under Section12 of the Pharmacy Act
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY MARKS: -
For OC / BC / BCM / MBC / DNC Candidates : -
Passed in Higher Secondary Course with Physics, Chemistry & Biology / Botany and Zoology/ Mathematics with not less than 40 % aggregate marks.
For SC / SCA / ST Candidates: -
Passed in Higher Secondary Course with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology (or) Mathematics.
NOTE: -
(i) Candidates who have passed any other equivalent examinations with same group of subjects mentioned above should upload the eligibility certificate from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University before admission to the course.
(ii) In the case of candidates who have furnished the mark sheets of the qualifying examination, only in GRADES, the minimum marks of the grades alone will be taken into consideration while determining the marks in the select Science subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Botany and Zoology.
(iii) Candidates who have mark sheets with GRADES should obtain a certifiedstatement of mark sheet from the examination authority and upload thestatement of marks for indicating the actual marks secured.
(iv) Normalization method will be adopted for calculating the minimum eligibility mark for the candidates who have passed any other equivalent examination.
Normalization of Marks:-
As per the Tamil Nadu Act No 3 of 2007, dt 05.03.2007 and G.O(Ms) No.77 HE(J2) Dept.dt:05.04.2007, the marks obtained by the students in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by various Boards or Authority shall be equated with the marks obtained by the students in the same subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by the State Board (Government of Tamil Nadu) by adopting the method of normalization.
Explanation:-
Under the method of normalization, the highest mark obtained by the students of various Boards in each subject will be equated to the highest mark obtained by the students of State Board in that subject and the relative marks obtained by other students in that subject will be determined accordingly.
Illustration:-
i. If the highest marks secured by the student of State Board in Physics is 100 and the highest mark secured by a student of any other Board in the same subject is 90, both the highest marks will be considered to be equal to 100. If a student of the other Board secures 60 marks in Physics when the first mark in Physics in the same Board is 90, then 60 marks will be considered to be equal to 66.66 marks as arrived at below:-
ii. After normalization of marks in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by different Boards, the qualified students of different Boards will be merged into a common merit list.
In case of candidates who have qualified from National Boards such as CBSE and ISCE, the highest marks obtained by the candidates at the National Level alone will be taken into consideration for normalization.
PROCEDURE FOR FILLING AND SUBMISSION OF ONLINE APPLICATION:-
10. a) (i)The candidate should log on in any one of the following official websites : www.tnhealth.tn.gov.in / www.tnmedicalselection.org
(ii) The fees for online application process is Rs.1000/- and should be paid via bank portal.
(iii) Candidates should fill all the mandatory fields in online application form by uploading the required certificates.
(iv) Request for change in any particulars in the online application shall not beentertained under any circumstancesafter online submission.
(v) Candidates are advised to submit only one online application form. If a candidate submits more than one online application form, his/her candidature will be cancelled.
vi) Candidates should ensure that all informations entered in the online application are correct during the online submission of application form.
11. Candidates are instructed to upload the following original certificates while filling up the online application in the required places.
a. The Mark sheet(s) of H.S.C. examination/any other Equivalent examination duly endorsed by the competent authority in both sides have to be uploaded.
b. Transfer certificate obtained after the completion of H.S.C. or Equivalent courses.
c. Nativity certificate(Issued by competent Revenue Authority in Tamil Nadu)
d. Community Certificate (Issued by competent Revenue Authority in Tamil Nadu)
e. X - standard Mark Sheet.
f. Certificate for proof of study from 6TH standard to 12TH standard (candidate who studied in Tamil nadu)
f. First graduate Certificate (claiming to be the first graduate in their family if applicable).
g. Parent Community Certificate Obtained from Revenue authority of Government of Tamil Nadu
Note:
i. The candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe should upload their Community Certificate obtained from a Competent Authority not below therank of Revenue Divisional Officer. If candidate claims ST status in the online application without uploading their Community Certificate they will be treated as open category candidate.
ii. Uploading / Producing a false community, Nativity or any other certificate if detected later at any point of time during the course of study will result in expulsion of the candidate and also criminal proceedings will be initiated against the candidate as well as the parents as per provision of law.
iii. As number of bogus community certificates are being encountered off late and in order to curb such practices, the authentication of the above certificate has to be verified and confirmed by the concerned authority, before the individual completes 1st year. The concerned candidate and parents should take necessary steps to that effect. Unless proof of authenticity of community certificate is received, the candidate will not be allowed to continue the 2nd year.
Iv. Candidates should upload all the necessary certificates in the prescribed format in online application.
v. Community Certificates obtained from other States will not be considered for claiming communal reservation and such candidates will be treated as open category.
MERIT LIST.
12. a) Calculation of marks for Pharm. D (Doctor of Pharmacy)
(i) Ranking will be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained by the eligible candidates in the prescribed science subjects in the qualifying examinations reduced to the base of 200 marks. The marks obtained through different Boards will be taken into account after normalization
CALCULATION
Weighted Total Marks for a maximum 200
Percentage in Biology (after normalization) (X)
Percentage in Physics and Chemistry - Taken Together (Y)
(after normalization)
Percentage in Botany and Zoology - Taken Together (Z)
(after normalization)
Percentage in Mathematics (after normalization) (W)
Weighted total marks for a maximum of 200.
Either (X+Y) OR (Z+Y) OR (W+Y)
The percentage and the weighted total should be accurate to two decimals.
ii) Ranking of the candidates will be done based on the total marks obtained in the prescribed Science Subjects after normalization of marks computed to a maximum of 200.
iii) Only the marks obtained in the prescribed Science subjects in the Higher Secondary Course qualifying examination as a whole in the first appearance will alone be taken into consideration for the allotment of seats to the candidates and the improvement marks in Higher Secondary Course examination of any year will not be considered. Also the marks obtained through part by part appearance in Higher Secondary Course examination will not be considered including for natives of Tamil Nadu who have passed any other equivalent examination from other Boards/States.
Note:-
a) Determination of Rank of Candidates obtaining equal marks (Inter-se Merit).
In cases where two or more candidates obtain equal aggregate for 200, therank of such candidates shall be determined on the basis of the following order namely:-
i) Percentage in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together in Higher Secondary Course Examination.
ii) Percentage in Chemistry in Higher Secondary Course examination.
iii) Percentage in Physics in Higher Secondary Course examination.
iv) Percentage in Fourth Optional subject in Higher Secondary Course Examination.
v) Date of Birth – Weightage given to seniority in age.
vi) Computerised Random number assigned. Higher value of random number will be taken into consideration.
b) Calculation of marks for Pharm. D (Doctor of Pharmacy)
The total marks obtained from B.Pharm Degree courses and converted to the base of 100 marks and the weighted total marks obtained should be calculated accurate to two decimals. The academic marks is arrived at as shown below

In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks out of total of 100 marks, the inter-semerit of such candidates shall be determined on the basis of the following order of preference.
a) Least number of appearances in the final Semester / final year of B.Pharm Examination.
b) Total marks obtained in the final Semesters / final year Examination of B.pharm course.
c) Seniority in age
13. The Selection Committee will publish the merit list in the following website:

14. The Candidates will be Permitted to participate the online counselling as per their merit and they may exercise their option as per their eligibility norms as mentioned in the Prospectus.
ONLINE COUNSELLING PROCEDURE (SINGLE WINDOW SYSTEM):-
15.a. Online Counselling Schedule will be available only on the website.
Candidates should lock their choices of Colleges and Courses as per the schedule and admission to Pharm.D Degree Course shall be made by counselling on the basis of merit applying the rule of reservation.
16. The processing fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only) should be paid through online mode via bank payment portal to participate in the online counselling.
17. At the time of choice filling, candidates can choose the Course and College of their own choices on merit basis and the same will be allotted as per the availability of seats.
REPORTING :
18. The allotted candidates should download their provisional allotment order and join the course in the allotted Medical College/Institution in person before the date and time specified in the allotment order along with the Originals and copies of the Certificates.
19. Candidates who have downloaded the provisional allotment order and have not joined the course will not be eligible to attend the subsequent rounds of online counselling.
21. The candidates who have joined in the course during 1st phase of counseling only, are eligible to attend the subsequent phases of counselling for re-allotment. The date of such counselling will be published in the websites and also will be informed to the Dean/The Principal of respective Colleges. No individual intimation will be sent to the candidates.
22. The vacancies arising after the first phase of counseling and also to the new colleges if any added will be filled up from the waiting list through online counseling, (if necessary).
23. Re-allottmentwill be conducted for Pharm. D Degre course
24. Individual request for transfer of course and college will not be entertained.
25. Mutual transfer will not be entertained.
METHOD OF SELECTION & ADMISSION:-
26. a) The selection will be made based on merit and applying the rule of reservation by the Government of Tamil Nadu as follows.

1. Within 30% reservation for BC, 3.5% reservation will be provided for BC Muslims.
2. 16% of seats out of 18% quota earmarked to SC shall be allotted to the Arunthathiyar community.
3. BC, BCM, MBC/DNC, SC, SCA & ST candidates are eligible for selection under open competition as per merit in addition to the reservation made for them.
b) Any remaining unfilled seats for want of adequate number of eligible candidates belonging to SCA community shall be filled by candidates belonging to SC community other than Arunthathiyar as per merit and vice versa.(GO (Ms) 55 P & AR Department, Dated:08.04.2010)
c) Any remaining reserved seats in ST Quota for want of adequate number of eligible candidates belonging to ST community shall be allotted to candidates belonging to SC Community as per merit. (GO (Ms) No.77 Health & Family Welfare Department (MCA1) Dated 24.02.2011)
d) Any remaining unfilled seats in BCM Community for want of adequate number of eligible candidates after exhausting the merit list shall be filled up on merit basis by candidates belonging to BC community without exceeding the quota for BC community as a whole (G.O.Ms.No.30/ H&FW Dept(MCA1) Dated 18.01.2012)
e) Even after filling up of the required seats reserved for Arunthathiyars on preferential basis, if more number of qualified Arunthathiyars are available, such excess number of candidates of Arunthathiyars shall be entitled to compete with the Scheduled Castes other than Arunthathiyars in the interse merit among them (As per G.O.Ms.No.65, P & AR (K) Department, Dated:27.07.2009.
CATEGORIES OF SEATS:
(i) GOVT. SEATS IN SELF-FINANCING COLLEGES
65% of total seats in Non-Minority Institution and 50% of total seats in MinorityInstitution, subject to the Policy of the State Government and the court orders in this regard for each Para Medical Course in Self Financing institutions surrendered to Government Quota will be filled as per merit following the rule of reservation in force.
The actual number of seats offered by the Self - Financing Institutions will be displayed at the time of Counselling.
TUITION FEE
28. Govt. Quota seat in Self-financing colleges :-
Tuition Fees is Rs. 2,00,000/- + Others Fees
29. The selection and admission of candidates of other Universities / Boards will be provisional subject to approval of the qualifying examination by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University under which the candidate gets admitted. In case, the recognition is not accorded for the admission of the candidate on any ground, the provisional admission will not entitle the candidate for the continuance of the course and the admission will be cancelled.
30. The Selected Candidates should produce all the original documents at the time of admission to the Deans/Principals of respective Colleges concerned. Selection will be cancelled if the candidates do not produce the original documents at the time of admission.
31. The candidates will be required to undergo Medical Examination at theCollege to which they are allotted before the Medical Board on the date notified by the authorities of the College. Only those candidates found medically fit will be admitted and be permitted to pay the fee.
32. For all the Pharm. D Degree Course, no admission shall be made after cut off date fixed by the Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R Medical Unievrsity.
33. All selection and admission for Pharm. D Degre course are only provisional. The Selection and admission is liable to be cancelled at any time as and when the eligibility conditions are found to be defective or incorrect or there has been any suppression or misrepresentation of facts.
The Selection Committee reserves the right to cancel the allotment of Para Medical courses and Colleges.
