Seats of the candidates selected in horizontal reservation shall be kept reserved in their respective vertical categories of the course chosen. However, Institutes shall be allotted on a merit basis to the candidates in the respective vertical categories.
Next, the selection of candidates for the UR seats will be done. A meritorious OBC/SC/ST candidate selected in the UR category is called a Meritorious Reserved Candidate (MRC). If an MRC does not like the college where the UR seat is available, he/she may choose a reserved seat in a different college. And, in doing so, the UR seat rejected by him/her shall be marked for the specific reserved category. This exercise leaves the total seat distribution among the reservation categories undisturbed.
