Indore: A team of 15 doctors successfully removed three poisonous arrows from an elderly man in Indore's government run Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital (MYH), an official said on Monday. The arrows were lodged in the 60-year-old man's stomach, thigh and hand. The patient was brought to the hospital from his native Barwani district in a very serious condition, Dr Arvind Ghanghoria, Professor in MYH’s Department of Surgery, said, according to a PTI report.

“One of the arrows penetrated eight inches into his stomach. He was attacked on Diwali night over some monetary dispute. If the poisonous arrows were not removed quickly, his life would have been in peril,” he told the news agency.
“After the complex surgery, the patient is out of danger and will be discharged from hospital soon,” Ghanghoria added. Officials further added that the use of bows and arrows is seen quite often several parts of western MP, with many of those injured being referred to MYH for surgery. The hospital has thus become a central hub for treating such cases, with its skilled medical professionals routinely performing surgeries to remove lodged arrows.
