UK junior doctors strike: BMC calls for credible offer to end strike
An Indian-origin medic and co-chair of the medical association's junior doctors' panel on Wednesday called on the UK government to get around the negotiating table as his colleagues began a six-day strike, the longest in Britain's health service history.
Dr Vivek Trivedi, co-chair of the British Medical Association Junior Doctors Committee, told the BBC that ministers must come forward with a credible pay offer so they can call off the strikes.

UP doctor shot dead in his house
In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old Ayurveda doctor was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur by three bike-borne miscreants on Thursday, police said.
The incident took place around 2:30 am in the Jalalpur area in Jaunpur when the accused entered the house of Dr Tilakdhari Singh Patel, located in the same building as his clinic, and shot him dead, Superintendent of Police (City) Brijesh Kumar Gautam said.

Pune hospital performs live donor liver transplant without blood transfusion
A recent medical milestone occurred when a city hospital successfully carried out a live donor liver transplant without the need for blood transfusion. The patient, a 52-year-old man suffering from end-stage liver disease, underwent a 12-hour surgery on December 4 last year. The donor, in this case, was the patient's wife, who willingly contributed a portion of her liver to save her husband's life. Both the donor and recipient have been recovering well, with the patient not requiring ventilator support post-surgery.
Final PGMER 2023 Regulations released in Gazette
Around four months after the Draft was released, the final Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023 (PGMER 2023) have now been published. These Regulations, which have come into force from the date of their publication in the official gazette i.e. 29.12.2023, lay down the rules and regulations regarding admission, counselling, and other details related to the postgraduate medical courses.
