Overview

Rheumatology is a emerging branch of medicine that deals with the study and management of rheumatic diseases and rheumatologists are on demand with growing rate of rheumatic diseases.

To give us more insights into the symposium, we have with us today the President of the Indian Rheumatology Association, Dr. B. G. Dharamanand.

In this video, Dr. B. G. Dharamanand talks about the new clinical management practices that were emphasized,surge in patients with rheumatology over the past few years with its possible reasons & risk factors,predisposing factors, or primary co-morbidities that may be associated with increased risk of auto-immune illness that a primary care physician may like to be sensitized about,auto-immune diseases that are “perceived as uncommon”, but are not so uncommon in a rheumatologist’s practice chamber in India.

Dr. Nandita Mohan

Dr. Nandita Mohan is a practicing pediatric dentist with more than 5 years of clinical work experience. Along with this, she is equally interested in keeping herself up to date about the latest developments in the field of medicine and dentistry which is the driving force for her to be in association with Medical Dialogues. She also has her name attached with many publications; both national and international. She has pursued her BDS from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and later went to enter her dream specialty (MDS) in the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry from Pt. Dr. Dharmanand. B.G

B G Dharmanand was one of the earliest rheumatologists trained in India, qualifying from prestigious Madras medical college. He also had training in United Kingdom. He began his career in Manipal hospital, Bangalore where he served for 17 years before moving other centres and is working in Manipal Hospital, Millers road since 2018. He directed fellowship programs in Manipal, Sakra and Vikram Hospitals. He is also an examiner for fellowship courses all over the country. He was instrumental in bringing rheumatology/clinical immunology to centre stage in Karnataka. He has served as president of Karnataka chapter of Indian rheumatology association and is currently the national president (2021-2023).
