Amritsar: A quack in the area has been booked by the local police for running an illegal nursing home and using the stamp of another doctor to continue the quackery.
The quack posed as a medical practitioner and owned a nursing home on the Jagdev Khurd road in Ajnala. He operated the nursing home without proper documentation and provided medical treatment to multiple patients despite lacking a valid medical degree.
The incident came to light after the father of the doctor whose stamp was being used by the quack became aware of the fraudulent activities. The doctor's father discovered that the officials at Raj Nursing Home were using his son's signature stamp to deceive patients during their treatment and creating medical invoices in the doctor's name.

Following this, the father approached the Health Department and reported the incident. Based on the tip-off, the department created a team of doctors who were sent to the nursing home to investigate.
While raiding the place, the team found the doctor's stamp, a surgery slip with his name and a mobile phone from there. The team was unable to question the accused as he fled from the nursing home during their visit.
Taking action against the quack, Emergency Medical Officer Dr Gurpartap Singh at the Civil Hospital, Ajnala filed a complaint at the police station. An FIR was registered under Section 420 of the IPC and Section 15 (2) of the Indian Medical Council Act in this regard, the Tribune reports.
Although the accused has been booked by the police, an arrest regarding this matter is still awaiting. An investigation into the case is under process.
